He’s been on many movie soundtracks, including The Big Easy, and appeared on Letterman, Today, MTV, NBC News, BBC and TV and radio all over the world. Buckwheat’s new release, "Lay Your Burden Down", produced by Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin, features guest performances by Berlin, Gov’t Mule/Allman Brothers guitarist Warren Haynes, Sonny Landreth, JJ Grey and Trombone Shorty.
  
With a head-turning remake of “When The Levee Breaks” as the lead radio track (featuring Sonny Landreth on slide guitar), "Lay Your Burden Down" will be promoted heavily to rock, Americana, blues and roots radio.
 
Throughout his career, Buckwheat has performed thousands of electrifying live shows all over the world with extensive tours of Canada, Japan and Europe and major festivals like New Orleans Jazz & Heritage, Edmonton, Lucerne, Montreux, North Sea Jazz Festival, Festival New Orleans at O2 Arena in London and more. 
 
Dates in support of "Lay Your Burden Down" begin in late spring and will continue through summer and fall.   

"Lay Your Burden Down" is the most adventurous release ever by an artist famous for fusing zydeco’s rhythmic energy to rock, R&B and funk.  Buck heats up great new versions of songs by
Led Zeppelin, Gov’t Mule, Bruce Springsteen and JJ Grey that sit naturally alongside first-rate zydeco rave-ups like only he can make.
 
U.S. Street Date for the new album is May 5th.

Buckwheat Zydeco - New Album Out in May

The Year 2009 marks the 30th anniversary of Buckwheat Zydeco. In that time, Stanley “Buckwheat” Dural, Jr. has become the worldwide icon of zydeco music. A multi-Grammy nominee, he has released over 15 albums and, even though over half of them pre-date Soundscan, has racked up over 600,000 total scans. 

He has played for President
Clinton, performed to a TV audience of 3 billion at the closing of the 1996 Summer Olympics and gigged with everyone from Eric Clapton and U2 to The Boston Pops. Buckwheat Zydeco has received mountains of press for its recordings and live performances worldwide.
